Webinar

Innovations in Environmental Noise Monitoring: From Class 1 to Low-Cost Sensors

11.12.2025 10:00−11:00 Uhr

A webinar  by the Net4Cities project explores sensor technologies for environmental monitoring. The session will feature experts from Cirrus and DLR, who will share insights on the use of both high-precision Class 1 instruments and versatile low-cost sensors. Participants will learn about deployment logistics, data availability, and the key advantages and limitations of each approach.

The presentations will draw on real-world experience and highlight practical considerations for integrating different sensor types into broader monitoring frameworks. The Net4Cities project is deploying a network of co-located sensors across multiple European cities to improve understanding of urban environmental conditions.

Speakers:

  • Craig Storey (Cirrus Research) - Noise Monitoring Systems That Meet International Standards
  • Arne Henning (DLR) - Advanced Traffic-Noise Monitoring Utilizing Combined Low-Cost Traffic and Noise Sensors

The webinar will conclude with a Q&A session, offering participants the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers.
