Achim Maas studied political science, history and sociology at Goethe University Frankfurt and the University of Bradford, focusing mainly on peace and conflict research, in particular research into the causes of war and arms control. As a project manager (2006–2012) and senior project manager (2006–2010)at adelphi he carried out research on climate change, energy security, and resource governance – particularly in developing and emerging economies – at the behest of different government departments, the EU, the UN, and other organisations. Achim Maas joined the IASS in 2012. Currently, he is coordinating the Fellow-Programme, the Incubator, and Third-Party Acquisiton of the IASS.
