Following the success of the first international climate engineering conference in 2014 (CEC14), the IASS will host a second climate engineering conference in 2017 (CEC17).
How can we systematically learn how to prepare for and minimize the risks to society of natural disasters, rapid global spread of diseases, and human-caused accidents and how are these linked with the sustainability challenges we face all over the world?
Bridging the gap between local realities and the level of ambition enshrined in the SDGs requires continuous societal learning processes. These need to be organized in a way that takes the interests and views of the poorest and most vulnerable into account.
