The "German-French Forum for the Future" (in German: "Deutsch-Französisches Zukunftswerk") was created by article 22 of the Treaty of Aachen, signed by President Macron and Chancellor Merkel in 2019. The Forum aims to learn from local and regional initiatives in France and Germany that address the societal transformations our countries are going through. It will engage with a few initiatives over several years, will provide a dialogue platform gathering actors of these initiatives, experts and policymakers; and will facilitate the co-design of policy recommendations to be handed yearly to the Franco-German ministerial council and parliamentary group.
