Headline: Lecture: Global Climate Governance

One year before the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Paris in December 2015, discussions are going on widely about how the negotiations can be concluded successfully and what a new globally effective and equitable agreement should look like. John Ashton, a former Special Representative for Climate Change to the UK Foreign Office and current member of the Steering Committee of the Transdisciplinary Panel on Energy Change (TPEC) at the IASS, will introduce his ideas on current global climate governance and its perspectives for the 21st century and beyond in a public lecture. The lecture will be followed by a discussion about the different perspectives that have been put forward regarding the architecture of the future climate regime. With regard to the ongoing process of the development of universally applicable sustainable development goals (SDG) in the context of the post-2015 development agenda, the discussion is intended to set climate governance in the wider perspective of development and sustainable economy.
