Curriculum Vitae

  • Oscar Schmidt holds a MSc in Integrated Natural Resource Management and a BSc in Horticultural Sciences both from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Oscar has conducted research in a number of countries and regions including Indonesia, East-Timor, Albania, Turkey and the European Union. Before joining the IASS Global Soil Forum Oscar worked as a Research Fellow at the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Development in Middle and Eastern Europe (IAMO) and as a consultant in research projects by the German Development Institute (DIE), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Besides working for the IASS, Oscar is currently writing up his doctoral thesis in the Division of Resource Economics at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The thesis assesses social, economic and cultural implications of state driven agrarian modernization and intensification in rural communities of South-Eastern Turkey.
