AMA – A Mindset for the Anthropocene

Research Interests

  • Natural and environmental science, with the focus on air pollution in Asia (particularly in the Himalayan region and in China)
  • The role of transdisciplinary processes towards sustainability in the Anthropocene
  • The potential of mindfulness and meditation as an approach for inner transformation that can encourage more sustainable behaviour

  • 2011 – 2015: PhD, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), Institute for Tibetan Plateau Research (ITP), Beijing, China. Thesis entitled ‘Observation of Carbonaceous Aerosols in the Central Himalayas and their transport to the Tibetan Plateau’
  • 2008 – 2010: MSc, Climate Sciences with special qualification in Climate and Earth System Science, University of Bern, Switzerland
  • 2009 Internship in Svalbard: fieldwork and database monitoring for permafrost research in the High Arctic
  • 2007: Exchange Student at the University of Valparaiso, Chile
  • 2004 – 2007: Bachelor of Science in Geography, Geology and Social Anthropology, University of Bern, Switzerland
