Charlotte Beckh joined the IASS in March 2012 as a Research Associate and coordinates the land governance project of the Sustainability Governance Program / Global Soil Forum. Her work includes the co-generation of strategies to implement responsible land governance and sustainable soil management into practice. Currently, she develops a Technical Guide on Governing Tenure Rights to Commons for FAO through a multi-stakeholder process to increase the uptake of the UN Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests. She obtained a MSc in Environmental Governance from the University of Freiburg, and wrote her thesis on the governance of groundwater ecosystem service trade-offs in South Africa. She also holds a BA in International Culture and Business Studies from the University of Passau. She gained practical experiences working with organizations such as the local farmer association Maisons Familiales Rurales in Burkina Faso, UNIDO, the German-French Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Paris, and ASA/GLEN (Global Education Network).
