Anja Krieger joined the IASS as press officer in April 2017. She studied social and cultural sciences and began to work as a journalist for German radio stations and online and print media in 2009. Her stories focused on the intersections of environment, technology and society – from the first circumnavigation of the globe by a solar airplane to the Dutch ‘cycling embassy’ and the Internet’s ecological footprint. From 2010 to 2015 Anja was part of the team of “Breitband”, a magazine for media and digital culture on the German national radio station Deutschlandfunk Kultur. Together with the ‘Climate News Mosaic’, a collective of international environmental journalists, she published a live blog during the Warsaw Climate Summit, which won the Hostwriter Prize for collaborative journalism. Her radio feature on solutions to plastic pollution in the oceans was awarded the UMSICHT Award for Science Journalism. In 2015 and 2016, Anja Krieger was a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She has worked as a reporter, moderator, editor, and university teacher and published with Nature, PRI, Ensia, Vox, Die ZEIT, and the Earth Journalism Network.
