Headline: Climate Engineering Conference 2017: Call for Abstract Submissions

Climate engineering raises complex questions that go well beyond technical feasibility issues. An international conference hosted by the IASS will convene discussions between international representatives from academia, politics, and the civil sector.

The Climate Engineering Conference 2017 (CEC17) will be held at the Umweltforum in Berlin from 9 to 12 October 2017. It will address approaches for both Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) and Solar Radiation Management (SRM), situating them within broader discussions of climate change and, in particular, mitigation and adaptation. The programme includes discussions of the ethical, legal, political, and technological questions that climate engineering raises for disciplinary research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and transdisciplinary dialogue between different sectors of society.

The conference organisers are inviting those interested in presenting their work at the conference to submit abstracts. The deadline for submissions is 30 June 2017. Abstracts should address one of the topics covered by the sessions that are accepting abstract submissions, and they should indicate the session to which they are being submitted. Abstracts should not exceed 200 words in length.

The conference builds on insights gained at the first large, international, and transdisciplinary conference on climate engineering in 2014 (Climate Engineering Conference 2014—CEC14).
