You are cordially invited to a seminar hosted by Duncan McLaren on the topic:

Whose climate? And whose ‘justice’? The politics of justice in climate engineering

This presentation will explore ways in which different conceptions of and assumptions about justice are embedded in the construction of climate engineering knowledge through climate modelling, and the implications that may have for our understanding of climate engineering as a possible response to climate change.

Who is Duncan McLaren?

Duncan McLaren is currently a freelance consultant and researcher, and part-time PhD student at Lancaster University, where he is exploring the justice implications of climate engineering. He is an author of many books and reports, most recently ‘Sharing Cities: A case for truly smart and sustainable cities’ (with Julian Agyeman, MIT Press: 2015). His research interests encompass cities and sustainability, climate change, energy and geo-engineering, with a particular focus on issues of justice arising in these areas and the consequences for policy. Previously he worked for many years in environmental research and advocacy, most recently as Chief Executive of Friends of the Earth Scotland from 2003 until 2011, where he was influential in the adoption of world leading climate change legislation by the Scottish Parliament.
