Headline: High-Level Event: Follow-up and Review of the Post-2015 Development Agenda

In collaboration with UN Habitat, UNEP, Landesa, the Global Land Indicators Initiative and the Global Land Tool Network, the IASS is organising a High‐Level Event on the topic “Follow-up and Review of the Post-2015 Development Agenda”. The event will place at the Global Land Tool Network (GLTN)’S 6th Partners Meeting in Nairobi.

Coinciding with the beginning of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, this high-level event will aim to look forward into the future by addressing the necessary requirements for an effective follow-up and review of the Post-2015 Development Agenda for land and natural resources. It will address the potential role the Global Land Tool Network and its partners can play in assisting national governments to conduct follow-up and review of soil and land-related SDGs. The event will explore this together with representatives from governments, the UN system, civil society and academia towards finding common strategies for engagement in the run-up to the next High-Level Political Forum in 2016, the 71st UN General Assembly and beyond. Among the speakers is Macharia Kamau, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Kenya to the UN, co-chair of the UN General Assembly Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals and the Post-2015 Intergovernmental Negotiations. The event is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL).
